Review: {ARC} Christmas Kisses by H.M. Ward

“How hard is it to NOT have sex with him? Lust has melted Holly Connelly’s brain and it’s all Ryan Darcy’s fault. He’s been ruthlessly flirting with her for the past three years. Ryan’s a sex god complete with sinful body, endless wit, and an orgasm-inducing smile. One sultry look from him will make her panties jump off her body. His endless string of one-night stands has Holly thinking she’ll be just another conquest. Since she actually has feelings for the guy, it makes it that much harder to put off his advances. When they get trapped together by a snowstorm, it’s all she can do to resist him. If Holly says yes, she’ll probably regret it. If she says no, she’ll always wonder what if.” via Goodreads

Review

I was given an ARC of this and one word I will use is “WOW!” This was indeed one of the hottest books I’ve read this year. The story goes back and forth, being told from both Holly and Ryan’s points of view. Each had hidden feelings for one another, both afraid of how the other felt. Having been friends previously, the flirting was natural between the two. Sparks fly when they are all but stranded at Ryan’s dorm due to roads being closed because of a snow storm. The passion unfolds with each breath. This is a MUST READ! Cozy on up to the fire with your cocoa and be prepared.

Tempted by Evil Blog Tour: Giveaway and Review

Tempted by Evil (Light and Shadow Trilogy #1)
by Amber Lynn Natusch

“A sheltered girl.

The perfect boy.

A mysterious stranger.

Random messages delivering a sobering prophecy plague Aspen’s existence. With every curious encounter, her sanity wavers further. Before long, Aspen finds herself balancing the fate of humanity on her shoulders, until a single act turns her world upside down. She finds herself alone, isolated from those she thought she could trust.

Alone to damn the world.” via Goodreads

Review

Aspen lost her parents when she was an infant and was raised in a convent.  When she turns 18 she is let out on her own.  The first person she meets is Julian, prominent in the community and son to a wealthy family who own the local coffee shop.  Soon after accepting a job for the coffee shop, strange things begin to happen to Aspen, leaving her to question her sanity.  Complete strangers begin yelling prophecies at her to which she has no clue to their meaning.  Then she meets Merrick. A dark, handsome, green eyed stranger that comes off as more a jerk than a friend.  Whenever trouble appears around Aspen, Merrick is there to save her. Many forces begin working against each other, leaving Aspen wondering who she can really trust.  She finally learns who she really is and her fate to be the end of the world.

This book was a definite page turner.  From beginning to end the story never took the turn I was expecting it to. Natusch has a knack for reeling the reader in. There is never a dull moment. It’s a true coming of age story with an evil twist. My only disappointed came when I read the last page, only to be left hanging. I am highly anticipating another release in this series! This is a definite MUST READ!!

Opal by Jennifer Armentrout: Trailer Reveal

“No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well… There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different… And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger… and they know it.” -via JenniferArmentrout.com

“USA TODAY Bestselling author Jennifer lives in Martinsburg, West Virginia. All the rumors you’ve heard about her state aren’t true. When she’s not hard at work writing. she spends her time reading, working out, watching really bad zombie movies, pretending to write, and hanging out with her husband and her Jack Russel Loki.

Her dreams of becoming an author started in algebra class, where she spent most of her time writing short stories….which explains her dismal grades in math. Jennifer writes young adult paranormal, science fiction, fantasy, and contemporary romance. She also writes adult romance under the name J. Lynn.”

First Week’s Success Giveaway!

A Life Among The Pages

I’d like to give a quick update on what’s happened in the last week…and don’t worry, you’ll be rewarded at the end of the post.

As you may know, From Where I Stand, my debut collection of poetry was released last weekend on Amazon. Soon after I was able to also release it on Smashwords (special thanks to Kristy Atkinson with formatting help). Throughout the writing and publishing process, I saw an overwhelming amount of support and confidence from people who were strangers mere months earlier. I’m so happy to see that my words are now available for other people to read, enjoy (I hope), and experience.  It’s a strange, but great, feeling.

In the one week of its release I have sold 25 copies of my book on Amazon. I’ve sold them to many people in the United States, but I’ve also sold copies in the United Kingdom, Spain…

Pure Textuality

Indiana, 1818. Moonlight falls through the dense woods that surround a one-room cabin, where a nine-year-old Abraham Lincoln kneels at his suffering mother’s bedside. She’s been stricken with something the old-timers call “Milk Sickness.”

“My baby boy…” she whispers before dying.

Only later will the grieving Abe learn that his mother’s fatal affliction was actually the work of a vampire.

When the truth becomes known to young Lincoln, he writes in his journal, “henceforth my life shall be one of rigorous study and devotion. I shall become a master of mind and body. And this mastery shall have but one purpose…” Gifted with his legendary height, strength, and skill with an ax, Abe sets out on a path of vengeance that will lead him all the way to the White House.

While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant…
